Good light and colours

What is pleasing about this photo are the good light and colours: it's very realistic and gives you the feeling of being on that beach.
On the other hand the horizont is a bit tilted and the image probably has a bit too much yellow in it (hard to judge exactly on this uncalibrated monitor however).
Regarding the composition the sunbather to the right distracts a bit. Some people would suggest to use the rule off thirds and place the guard in one corner of the image, but I think that the central position is fine. What would have made the image more powerful however is a change of perspective - being closer to the guard, using a wider angle and having the birds more above. Right now the birds and the guard are too central in the image.
