Insect on Lavendel

I'm not familiar with that fuzzy blue flower - very interesting.

As for the critter - I have no clue. Might it be some sort of 'stink bug'? Do you have stink bugs in northern Europe?

We have something that's a bit similar in appearance but they have more black and less orange, and the orange is a good bit more striking.

BTW: I like the way you limited the DOF to the critter and blossom, the green stem being OOF - coming and going. Also, in Oly tradition there is a bit of a 3-D effect; nice shot.

I'm not the kind of guy who likes to smell on bugs ;-))) so I don't know if this one is a stinker or not...
The shot was taken in my garden with the help of a tripod..

As you can see in his comment its a Soldier Beetle here in Europe and for the USA it's called Leather wings...
