Taken on a hike in Rocky Mountain National Park. I was looking for a tree with more color, but couldn't pass up this tall, straight Aspen. With a polarizer.

A Really Nice Shot.

Hi Rian. I like this one very much and I was thinking for a long time when judging the contest entries how you did. A polarizer certainly makes sense. You did this very well!

Cheers, Jens.

(I have tried to take this kind of pictures as well but always ended up with either over exposed sky or under exposed trunks. It never occurred to me to try a polarizer though...)

A Really Nice Shot.

Thank you very much Jens. Means a lot considering your amazing talent...

I took several shots of the tree with/without polarizer at different settings and this one turned out the best.

Nice shot with very pleasing colours. Just a point but I'd like to see this with the tree trunk coming out the LH corner so it's on a diagonal. This, in my opinion would give a more dynamic composition.

Great idea Dave!. I hadn't thought of shooting diagonal. I will havet to keep that in mind next time I'm in an Aspen forest. Thanks! Rian
