Ciao Leda,

benvenuta a myolympus.org. Foto molto ben riuscita - non sapevo che tu fossi stata in Malesia).

Impressive how close you managed to get to this fish. By the way, how did you manage to get colours like these - did you use an external flash or did you correct the white balance with post-processing ?

Hi Alfred! yes, I was in Malaysia last summer, in Sabah, I visited Kotakinabalu and the islands of Mabul, Sipadan and Kapalai. I had no time to visit the jungle... next time... My picture: I used an external flash (Inon, D-180 uw dedicated flash) and cloudy WB. The secret is in the correct angle of the flash: 45 degree or more if needs...every time you have to calculate it! No post processing correction at all. The big fish was in a "cleaning station" (the blue little fish you see near the branches is a cleaning fish), when fishes are quiet and divers can move closer, but closer means maximum one meter, so you have to play with aperture and speed to have the right shot. I've ten or more shots of this sweetlips to have a single picture right! Glad you like this shot, thank you! good night!
